FOODS THAT HELP IN MILK SUPPLY


Bottle Gourd:

  • It keeps your body hydrated (which is necessary to produce milk)

  • It is also a good source of vitamins C, A and K

  • And essential minerals like sodium, calcium, iron, zinc and magnesium

  • Apple gourd and sponge gourd improves milk production. Plus, they are great for the gut 


Drumsticks:

  • High in calcium, iron and many minerals, drumsticks help in stimulating milk production 


Fenugreek: 

  • Fenugreek seeds contain estrogen-like compounds that can improve milk flow

  • Both the seeds and leaves are useful


Fennel seeds:

  • Fennel seeds are traditionally known to boost milk production

  • You will find them in lactation cookies and teas


Sesame seeds:

  • Sesame is known to be high in calcium

  • It has estrogen-like properties which is perfect for breastfeeding mothers


Barley:

  • Barley has beta-glucan, a polysaccharide that boosts the breastfeeding hormone – prolactin

  • They don’t just add fragrance to your dishes, curry leaves are also rich in minerals that help in lactation

  • They also improve blood circulation

  • And increase your ability to break down nutrients


Almonds

  • It is vitamin E & omega-3 fatty acids and polyunsaturated fats that make almonds great for nursing mothers
