You're doing everything you can to physically prepare for the big day, but don't forget about your mental and emotional readiness, as well. Birthing is a physical process, but it's also mental, emotional and spiritual.
This is a time when you have to let go and let your body take over. But it's not always easy to do that when you're bombarded with thoughts and fears about the birth process. This is why it's so important to tune into your own needs and figure out what's too much for you.
If you're holding on to too many thoughts, it can create anxiety and hinder your ability to relax and let go. But if you can find that balance and let go of the things you can't control, you'll be in a better position to welcome your baby into the world.
Try narrowing your focus only on the things that you can control like, what kind of birth you're hoping for. Are you looking for a medicated or unmedicated birth? Would you like to try natural childbirth or would you feel more comfortable with medical interventions? You'll also need to think about who will be in the delivery room with you and who will be excluded. (Some moms prefer to have their husbands or partners there, while others would rather have just their closest family members present.)
Birth plans are usually drafted with high expectations of how things will go down. But sometimes, labour doesn't follow the script and things don't quite go to plan.
Don't worry, this isn't the end of the world. It's normal to feel a little bit overwhelmed and stressed if things don't go as expected, but try to remember that you're still in control. You know your body best, and you're the one who's going to be giving birth.
If something goes wrong or you need to change your plan, talk to your doctor or midwife. They'll be able to help you out and guide you through the process.
